At the end of series six, fans finally got the moment they had either been hoping for or possibly dreading, as Patrick Jane finally declared his love for Agent Teresa Lisbon. It was a sweet moment right out of the Big Book Of Romantic Declarations, complete with a dramatic, last-minute airport dash as Jane Simon Baker was spurred into action to stop Lisbon Robin Tunnie from marrying the wrong guy. With his nemesis Red John finally killed off, this last ever series of The Mentalist will determine just what kind of a couple these two will turn out to be. She and Jane take the first shift. The finale aired on Sunday with a new letter, believed to be written by a killer mocking the Feds only that it turned out that Jane wrote the letter. He tells her that if she allows Kristina to consult, he will quit. And of course Ball of Fire, which really drove the point home that she cares deeply for him. Or is the restaurant choice of no consequence and Kristina really is a psychic? Or he could have just been impressed with her new place which admittedly is nicer , or he was just making conversation.
With regards to the speculations whether fans could hear wedding bells for Simon Baker’s Patrick Jane and Robin Tunney’s Teresa Lisbon, the executive producer indicated that there will be resolution for those questions. Donnamour Wiley should have gone for it. If that were the case they could have made Lisbon a man or a happily married woman instead of an incredibly fantastic, single woman who was completely un-intimidated, smart, feisty and more than worthy to end up with the marvelous Patrick Jane.
Later, in season 3, Mashburn reappears, and at the end of the episode it is revealed that Lisbon liked Mashburn.

In the episode ” Red Badge “, it is revealed, whilst talking with her psychiatrist, that Lisbon’s mother was killed by a drunk driver when she was twelve, and later in the same episode it is mentioned that Lisbon was formerly an inspector detective for the San Francisco Police Department SFPD , and at the time worked for then-SFPD Lieutenant Sam Bosco. She also accidentally admits that after her mother’s death, her father was sometimes abusive towards her and her three younger brothers, and that he would suffer blackouts from his alcoholism.
Her father eventually committed suicide. In the episode ” Red Tide “,  it was implied that the young Teresa had to take over the maternal role and care for the family after her mother’s death. In the episode ” Code Red “, it is revealed one of Lisbon’s brothers is named Tommy, and in the episode ” Red Hot “, it is revealed that another brother is named James. In the same episode, her mother is said to have been a nurse and her father a fireman. In the episode ” Ring Around the Rosie “, she states she was raised in Chicago.
In the episode ” Where in the World Is Carmine O’Brien ” her brother Tommy is introduced, who apparently has gone through a succession of unsuccessful jobs and has become a bounty hunter , allowing his daughter Annabeth “Annie” to tag along. The sibling relationship seems loving but strained, with Lisbon acting as almost a surrogate mother figure.
It is also revealed while Lisbon and Jane are looking for her brother James, that Stanley was renovating the old family home in Chicago so he could move in with his family. Her name was taken from the character of Therese Lisbon in Virgin Suicides. Lisbon and the CBI’s consultant Patrick Jane have a very intense working relationship which has, over the course of the show’s seasons, developed into a personal relationship as well.

Patrick also thinks he can read Teresa — and that egoism will be his ultimate downfall. Yes, I believe Teresa is hypnotizing Patrick in some way to get him to reveal things to her that she then uses against him to slowly torture him by killing everything around him that he loves.
